The Department of Visual Studies (VS) at Lingnan University offers a multidisciplinary study program, focusing on art history and film art. The VS program emphasizes the history, theory and philosophy of visual arts and culture in Asia and beyond, as well as experiential, object-based and skill-based learning through excursions, studio practices, curatorial training and internships. VS admits undergraduate, masters and doctoral students per academic year. A new taught Masters program in Conservation and Art History (MACAH) was launched in 2020/21. VS is looking for a part-time lecturer to teach 1-3 courses in art history and museum studies in the 2022/23 academic year, such as theories and histories of European art, provenance research, archival research, the digital museum, or special art history topics, in the MACAH program. The incumbent may also be invited to direct research dissertations.
Candidates for the position must have:
- a master’s or doctoral degree in art history, museum studies, or a relevant discipline;
- Relevant teaching and curatorial experience; and
- Good command of the English language.
Applicants should specify their educational contribution to the MACAH program and provide information about their background, including evidence of high-quality teaching in relevant subjects, research findings, and curatorial projects.
The terms of engagement will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be on a fixed term basis.
